Standard Process Pneumotrophin PMG®: Benefits, Side Effects, Ingredients, and Where to Buy
Allergies, asthma, air pollution, smoking–there are a lot of things that can damage our lungs and make it harder to breathe. Standard Process Pneumotrophin PMG® is a proprietary bovine lung extract formulated to support lung health. Learn what this supplement is, the benefits of supplementation, common side effects, and ingredients.
What is Pneumotrophin PMG®?
Derived from bovine lung extract, Pneumotrophin PMG® utilizes an exclusive ProtomorphogenTM blend. Protomorphogen theory was first laid out by Dr. Royal Lee, the inventor of Standard Process supplements, in 1947.
Dr. Lee was a firm believer in the benefits of whole food supplements (as opposed to synthetic, lab-created alternatives). After all, our bodies developed to break down and process nutrients from natural, whole foods, where they exist alongside a variety of other vitamins, minerals, and macronutrients which impact and shape how they are absorbed in complex, interconnected ways.
As a result, isolating individual nutrients into a synthetic supplement means that the body may not be able to absorb those nutrients as easily.
What are Protomorphogens?
From this whole food based nutritional philosophy, Dr. Lee suggested that glands and organ tissue may be particularly helpful beyond their unique nutrient content. He proposed that extracts from these organs could help support cells at the nucleus-level, and stimulate cellular repair in those same organs.
According to Dr. Lee, protomorphogens are cell-specific "maps" that provide a blueprint for cell construction, helping spur healthy cell growth and repair.
Protomorphogens and Standard Process Pneumotrophin PMG®
Standard Process Pneumotrophin PMG® contains a protomorphogen blend derived from bovine lung extract in order to offer targeted support for lung health. This blend contains a unique combination of naturally-occuring nucleotides, peptides, and minerals to help your lungs do what they do best.
What are nucleotides?
Nucleotides are organic molecules that serve as building blocks for nucleic acids such as RNA and DNA. Nucleotides contain a specialized sugar molecule, such as ribose (in RNA) or deoxyribose (in DNA), as well as a phosphate group and a nitrogen base. Nucleotides are essential to healthy cellular function, especially cell division and reproduction.
Supplementing nucleotides has been shown to provide a wide range of benefits, including reduced cortisol levels, immune system support, and inflammation control.
What are peptides?
A peptide is a string of 2 to 50 amino acids that acts as a crucial building block for proteins, hormones, and neurotransmitters. These molecules are essential for numerous processes throughout the body including cell repair, cell communication, and immune function. Peptides are a crucial part of the cellular reproductive process.
Standard Process Pneumotrophin PMG® Benefits
The benefits of Standard Process Pneumotrophin PMG® include:
Support healthy lung function
The primary function of the lungs, as part of the respiratory system, is to bring in oxygen (upon inhale) and expel waste products, such as carbon dioxide (upon exhale). This process is called respiration. When this respiration is disrupted, it can lead to feelings of dizziness, fatigue, and breathlessness, as well as coughing, gasping, and wheezing.
Respiration can be disrupted by a host of factors, including tissue damage, irritation, inflammation, and illness. Standard Process Pneumotrophin PMG® supports the body’s natural capacity for healthy cell repair and cell reproduction to heal and replace damaged tissue.
Supports immune function
Pneumotrophin PMG®’s unique blend of nucleotides, peptides, and minerals, helps supply the immune system with the nutrients it needs for optimal functioning. When a cell is damaged by illness or injury, the immune system is activated, and white blood cells target the damaged tissue for support.
However, while this process is a necessary part of keeping us healthy, it also creates toxic byproducts that can damage healthy cells nearby. Standard Process Pneumotrophin PMG® helps neutralize circulating antibodies, helping the body maintain cellular health.
Antioxidant support
Standard Process Pneumotrophin PMG® contains naturally-occuring antioxidants which help limit free radical action, oxidative stress, and inflammation.
